We have been informed by club secretaries of the passing away of the following club members since January 2022.
Malcolm Squires – City of Peterborough Bowls Club. As well as being a very respected member of the C of P club, Malcolm was also very active in the Northampton Bowls Federation for 40 years, during which he captained a number of County Teams.
Stan Jackson – Bretton and District bowls Club. Stan was a real gentleman. At one time he was the chauffeur for Frank Perkins
Graham Palmer – City of Peterborough Bowls Club
Peter Pledger – Central Park (IPMBC). Prior to 2022 Peter had been a regular player in both the Midweek and Club 55 Leagues
Margaret Hadnam – Crowland Town Bowling Club. As well as being the President of Crowland Town BC, Margaret was also the President of the League in 2012
Bill Wright – Longthorpe Bowls Club. Bill passed away in May 2022. He was a regular player in the Club 55 League for many years
Phil Hickey – Longthorpe Bowls Club. Phil passed away in June 2022. He was a regular player in the Mid-week League
Eric Peachey – Longthorpe Bowls Club. Eric passed away in October 2022.He played the occasional Club55 game but preferred friendlies and indoor bowling
Terry Boughton – Longthorpe Bowls Club. Terry passed away on October 2022. He had not played for a few years, but was a regular in Club 55
Gordon Stirman – City of Peterborough Bowls Club. Gordon was the current president of C of P and former League President in 2019
Peggy Garn – Burrows Court Bowls Club. Peggy passed away in Nov 2022. A very good club bowler, winning club competitions and regularly played county pairs with her daughter
Adrian Owen – East Community Bowls Club. Adrian was a founder member of the club and served in many positions, including vice-chairman and treasurer. He was also President of the League in 2020/2021. Please note. Adrian’s Funeral has been moved to Friday 10th February at 10-30am. Venue is St Mary’s Church, Station Road, Whittlesey. No Wake
Eric Wright – Bretton and District B C. Eric passed away in Jan 2023. Although he had not bowled recently due to ill health, he was a valued club member. He previously played for Perkins and Burton Street Tigers.
All will be sadly missed.
